I needed a sisterhood book, and this one grabbed my attention, however it was not the sisterhood book I expected. It fulfilled my need for sisterhood in such a beautiful and unexpected way. I was in touch with humanity through the characters, and I learned some ideas I hadn't thought of that could fill my soul and need for greater and more meaningful relationships. With all of that it also gave some drama and suspense. the ending was a totally emotional breakdown for me in the best way! I learned so much about what’s out there that i may not see and how important it is to pay attention and to care. It was very easy to visualize the characters and the scenes. I felt I could see the movie playing out in my head as I read. I did not want to put the boom down and leave the story until I was finished with the entire thing! The writing is smooth and simple so as to take you with ease from moment to moment and keep your visual of the characters fixed in your head. I will never forget them! I really enjoyed this story! Even though I didn’t relate it with my own “personal” story, it surely did wonders for my soul! And I am forever changed when I consider the types of relationships I will want to cultivate, and how, in the future to make a sister tribe for myself. Just beautiful!

I usually read mysteries, but I was interested in the premise, I love a female driven book, and I liked the cover, so I bought it. I really enjoyed it. The characters are beautifully flawed, and together find ways to mend the cracks in their foundations. This book is for anybody who has a friend (or friends if you're lucky) who transcend that bond and become the family you choose. Hodde's prose is rich with detail, and the story of these three extraordinary women will resonate with you long after you've finished the final chapter.

An immediately engrossing novel which moves into absorbing layers about kinds of love and trust and builds to a powerful conclusion. An absorbing, and often funny, portait of a distingtigrating marriage which is replaced, surprisingly, by a carefully nuanced set of friendships that result in characters becoming their true selves. Not to be missed!

This first novel is a compelling and beautifully told tale of fortitude and rebirth that will inspire every reader. The characters are fully developed and diverse and the storyline compelling to the end. I highly recommend this book to any reader.

As a debut novel, this is nothing short of fantastic. Set in Oakland County, Michigan (my hometown) I truly enjoyed feeling at home in this book. The characters felt like people I actually knew and could relate to. I highly recommend it.

I am always driven to read stories that are character driven. However, I want characters that are nuanced, realistic and varietal. Hodde’s novel has such characters. The title is so apt, because the reader is treated to an unfolding of life’s passages, from the dissolution of a marriage, to the emotional challenges of young girls, to the blossoming of adult friendships. I highly recommend this tale of change and growth.
